This place used to be a pool supplies place - by far the coolest venue we've visited so far. It's got 3 seperate areas, two with a bar and the other is a patio seperating them. The front bar has comfy booths and a large bar, great decoration and an old school photo booth. The back bar is where the music happens. It is decorated with huge paintings done by the owner, artist Ray Abeyta - whose work you can see here:

The patio separates the two areas and is where the BBQ happened yesterday.

I'm sad she's going. she's in a state of transformation, going, going, could be gone now. anytime. and of course it strikes me as i type that - that we all are. some in fast ways - more obvious ways - in states of disease, in hospitals. like she is tonight. and like her older sister Sharyn was - who went before her only 9 months ago, sharyn went on the same day as my dad did - Feb. 2 - but he went 6 years before her. of all 365, i still marvel and wonder that she, Aunt Sharyn, suffered so long but that it was over on that same day - Feb. 2.
so here we are, all of us, experiencing so many levels and different forms of suffering. it gives us some peace, relief, some distance and a feeling of safety to think there is some seperation from our own "personal life day to day suffering" and the kind that is experienced when someone is actually headed - CAPITAL D toward Death. always, though, all of us in transition. transforming.

part of me wants to write a little about her life tonight, but her death is what's happening now. she's got family and love around her. i want peace for her. someone, something bring her peace.

aunt sandy, you were so kind in life. you were so brave to take this risk, so fully aware. i'm sorry you "went so far down" as you said. we all thought we'd lose you the night you went in for surgery, it was truly a miracle you made it through. i'm sorry it turned out this way. that you didn't have the recovery you'd hoped for - that we'd all hoped for. i hope you can feel the love around you tonight. i love you.

leslie is up here for the holiday and we had another adventure. we spent the night at the chalk hill winery in healdsburg, it was awesome. we got some crazy VIP treatment and stayed in a guest cottage on the property. it was a big time.
